BALTIMORE, Md. – Mamadou Kansaye converted a penalty kick in the 32nd minute, leading UMBC (8-5-3, 4-0-1 AE) to a 1-0 win over Binghamton (4-12-0, 2-3-0 AE) in an America East men's soccer game on Wednesday night at the Retriever Athletic Complex. With the victory, the Retrievers remain in first place in the conference.

Mamadou's penalty kick was set up when Binghamton was called for a hand ball in the box. His goal was his fourth the season..

UMBC outshot the Bearcats 26-12 for the game. The Bearcats fired a pair of shots in the final five minutes but were unable to net the equalizer.

"I am gutted for our guys because we played quite well against a very good team," head coach Paul Marco said. "We are getting our chances but the ball is just not going in for us."

Binghamton returns home on Saturday for a 7 p.m. game against Stony Brook on Senior Night at the Bearcats sports complex.
