Women’s Basketball Loses to Unbeaten Princeton 96-58

Sina nets 15 points, Swinson adds 14 points

PRINCETON, N.J. – Michelle Miller and Blake Dietrich each scored a game-high 19 points, powering unbeaten Princeton (10-0) to a 96-58 win over Binghamton (1-9) in a non-conference women's basketball game on Saturday afternoon at Jadwin Gym. The Tigers entered the game receiving votes in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll.

Princeton, who is the first Ivy League team ever to start a season with 10 straight wins, shot 55 percent from the field (37-of-67). In addition the Tigers made 10 of 15 three-point attempts (66.7 percent) and were 12-of-14 from the free throw line (85.7 percent).

Binghamton got off to a 10-5 lead in the opening 4:07 of the game. The Bearcats nailed four of their first seven shots with senior guard Gintare Surdokaite punctuating the run with a three-point field goal.

The score was tied at 18-18 with 10:23 left in the first half but Princeton scored the next 12 points over a span of 2:02. Miller scored eight of her points during that stretch.

Freshman point guard Jasmine Sina stopped the run when she hit a jumper at the 8:04 mark of the first half. From there, however, the Tigers reeled off 10 more unanswered points to go up 40-20 with 4:14 remaining. Dietrick led the way with five points during that span.

Princeton's final run of the game was 19-4 blitz that stretched its lead to 92-53 with 3:30 left in regulation.

Sina finished with a team-high 15 points, marking the third straight game she has reached double figures in scoring. She has averaged 19.0 points per game during that stretch. Senior forward Sherae Swinson added 14 points and freshman guard Imani Watkins chipped in 12 points.

Miriah Smith added 11 points for Princeton.

Binghamton returns home for a 7 p.m. game on Friday against Siena.

NOTES: Sina also grabbed four rebounds and dished out a team-high five assists.
