Binghamton was down by as much as 30-18 with 4:04 left to go in the first half but within a span of nine minutes, trimmed the deficit to 37-36 with 15:49 left in regulation. Senior forward Sherae Swinson, who finished with 14 points and a team-high nine rebounds, punctuated the run with a layup.

From there, the Highlanders regrouped to go up 45-40 with 9:57 remaining. Over the next six minutes, the Bearcats got to within three points on four different occasions. The final such instance came when junior guard Kim Albrecht buried a jumper with 3:26 left to go.

Neither team scored in the ensuing three minutes of play but NJIT converted three of four free throw attempts in the final 19 seconds to clinch the win.

Freshman guard Imani Watkins led all players with 19 points. She has now reached double figures in five out of the team's first seven games.

The Bearcats outrebounded the Highlanders 38-37 but the home team turned 12 offensive rebounds into 11 second-chance points.
