VESTAL, N.Y.—Shaban Abousaud scored 1:25 into the first sudden-death overtime period, leading Army (2-1-1) to a 1-0 win over Binghamton (2-3-0) in a non-conference men's soccer game at the Bearcats Sports Complex on Tuesday night.
Abousaud, whose goal was the first of the season, got behind the Bearcat defense and took a cross from Christian Clark. He then fired the ball into the net from close range.
"We are gutted not to have gotten the win tonight," head coach Paul Marco said. "Both teams played well and I thought we got better as the match went on. But we did not start the overtime well, which I am disappointed about."
The Black Knights finished the game with a 7-5 shot advantage. Abousaud's game winner represented the only shot either team had in the extra session.
