VESTAL, N.Y. – Conor Goebel scored in the 30th minute, leading Cornell (2-1-1) to a 1-0 win over Binghamton (2-4-0) on Saturday night at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
Goebel, who now has two goals in as many games, was stationed right in front of the goal when he finished off a cross from Chris St. Germain. Ralph Lee Price IV was also credited with an assist.
Outshot 5-3 in the opening 45 minutes, the Bearcats came out stronger in the second half and the shots wound up even at 8-8 for the game. Zach Zagorski, however, made a pair of second-half saves to preserve his third shutout of the season.
"I thought we played with a sense of urgency for the entire second half," head coach Paul Marco said. "Our performance in the second half was good enough to try and get a goal back. But I am disappointed how we started the match at home."
Junior goalkeeper Stefano Frantellizzi made four saves in his third consecutive start.
