HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Daniel Grundei scored in the 81st minute, leading Hofstra (4-3-2) to a 1-0 win over Binghamton (2-8-0) in a non-conference men's soccer game on Tuesday night at the Hofstra Soccer Stadium. The game marked the Bearcats' final contest before starting America East play this weekend.

The Bearcats stages a furious rally in the closing minutes to try and get the equalizer. They fired a pair of shots and got two corner kicks in the final eight minutes of regulation. Still, they were unable to find the back of the net.
"I am gutted by the outcome because I thought our guys played well tonight," head coach Paul Marco said. "We created some very good chances both in the run of play as well as on set pieces."
Hofstra outshot the Bearcats 15-7 for the game. Sophomore goalkeeper Robert Moewes made six saves.
Binghamton's opening conference game is at home on Saturday against Hartford at 7 p.m.
