BOONE, N.C. - Binghamton wrestling nearly pulled off a second-straight late-match comeback but host Appalachian State posted a win in the final match to deal the Bearcats (3-5) a 22-15 loss Sunday afternoon at Varsity Gym. 

Trailing 19-9 with three bouts left, BU won the first two, thanks to a decision by juniro 184-pound Jack McKeever and another win by senior 197-pound Caleb Wallace. Trailing 19-15 entering the final match at heavyweight, the Bearcats sent out nationally-ranked Tyler Deuel, who needed a technical fall or pin to win the team match. But App State's Denzel Dejournette scored an 8-4 decision to seal the victory.

McKeever (14-7 overall) and Wallace each won his third straight dual.

Other winners for the Bearcats were sophomore 141-pound Dylan Caruana and senior 149-pound Colton Perry. Caruana (14-10 overall) picked up his third dual win of the season and Perry provided a big lift with a first-period pin in his match. 

Binghamton next meets longtime in-state rival Hofstra Friday night at the New York Athletic Club. The "home" match will start at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by a social event for BU alumni and supporters.
