NEW YORK, N.Y. - Binghamton wrestling (4-5, 2-0 EIWA) spotted in-state rival Hofstra (4-7, 2-3 EIWA) an early 10-point cushion before roaring back to post a 19-16 win Friday night at the New York Athletic Club. The win keeps the Bearcats unbeaten against EIWA opponents this season.

With wins in the final three matches (and six overall), BU delighted its strong alumni contingent, which enjoyed a social function immediately following the "home" match.

Senior heavyweight Tyler Deuel capped the dramatic comeback with a 3-1 decision in the final match of the evening. With the match tied at 16-16, Deuel (13-4) squared off against sophomore Mike Hughes and used a first-period takedown and second-period escape to build the winning cushion.

Other winners for BU were senior 125-pound David White, freshman 157-pound Vincent DePrez, sophomore Zack Zupan, junior 184-pound Jack McKeever and senior 197-pound Caleb Wallace.

White (13-11) got the Bearcats off to a rousing start by rallying late for a 4-3 decision. He used a third-period reversal and then extinguished riding time to pull out the narrow win. the Pride responded, however, with three straight wins to build a 13-3 lead. DePrez (15-10) used a third-period escape to score the lone point of his tight match at 157. Zupan (13-11) used a pair of first-period takedowns for forge ahead and racked up 2+ minutes of riding time in his comfortable 9-3 decision. After a Hofstra win at 174 gave the Pride a 16-9 edge, McKeever (14-7) poured it on late in his match, picking up two third-period takedowns to earn a 12-4 major decision. Wallace tied the match at 16-16 with a 9-3 decision at 197, setting up Deuel's heroics.

The Bearcats host fellow EIWA member Columbia at 2 p.m. Sunday at West Gym.
