VESTAL, N.Y.- The Binghamton volleyball team hosts two America East matches at the West Gym this weekend. On Friday, October 2, the Bearcats take on Hartford at 7 p.m. BU then faces New Hampshire on Sunday, October 4, at 1 p.m.

Binghamton opened conference play on September 25, dropping a 3-2 decision to Albany. BU won the first two games of the match. Sophomore
Sarah Ngo recorded 49 assists and 20 digs, while freshman
Gabby Alicea scored a career-high 19 points and compiled 22 digs.
Megan Burgess, a senior, provided 18.5 points in the contest. The match was played in front of 577 fans, setting a West Gym-volleyball record for the ticketed era at BU.

In 2015, Coach
Glenn Kiriyama's squad has played seven five-set matches, with each of the team's three wins coming in five-gamers. Junior
Bailey Walker leads the America East in digs per set (4.95) and total digs (297) this season.
Kristella Morina, a sophomore, has 54 blocks, most in the conference in 2015. Ngo ranks third in the league with 8.22 assists per set.

Hartford is 0-15 this year. The Hawks were swept by New Hampshire last Friday. Freshman Paulina Modestow paces the team with 137 points. Astrid Mangual has tallied 277 assists, while Paola Llerandi has totaled 137 digs. Hartford went 17-13 last year, including a 5-7 America East record.

New Hampshire has a 9-7 overall record and a 1-0 conference mark. The Wildcats handled Hartford in straight sets to start league play on Friday. Keelin Severtson is second in the America East in assists (499) and aces (28), while Demi Muses leads the Wildcats with 206.5 points. Tori Forrest is next with 184 in 2015. Last year, UNH went 20-12, winning the America East regular season and tournament titles.

Binghamton leads the all-time series with Hartford, 20-6. BU has gone 12-15 against New Hampshire in their previous meetings.
