VESTAL, N.Y.- The Binghamton volleyball team rallied past UMass Lowell Friday night at the West Gym, winning 3-2.
Sarah Ngo set a career high with 61 assists as BU won a tense America East five-setter, which served as "You Can Play" and "Dig Pink" night.

Kasey Muchnicki, making her first career start, tallied a personal-best 31 digs, while
Megan Burgess scored a career-high 24.5 points. The Bearcats trailed in the match, 2-1, before coming back to pick up the home victory. BU (5-15, 2-4 America East) won by scores of 23-25, 25-16, 24-26, 25-20, and 15-13.

Heading into the decisive fifth set, BU held the momentum after winning the fourth frame. Ngo and Burgess made sure to keep that going, as the duo connected on three points to put the hosts ahead, 4-2, early.
Kristella Morina and Haag followed with kills and after a Riverhawk point, Ngo scored herself for a 7-4 advantage. Ngo then assisted on a
Gabby Alicea point to keep the margin.

Another Alicea kill made it 10-6, and then Ngo found Burgess for another point. Two Lowell errors pushed BU closer to victory, but the visitors battled, eventually tying the game at 13. Ngo answered with her 61
st assist, setting up Morina to regain the lead. The Riverhawks then committed an attack error on match point, allowing Binghamton to pull out the exciting win.

UMass Lowell came away with a win in the competitive opening set, but BU responded with a stellar second game, winning by 9. The Bearcats hit .394 in the frame. The visitors grabbed a 2-1 match advantage with another close decision, 26-24, in the third. Needing a win to extend the contest, Binghamton hit .406 in the fourth, handling the Riverhawks to force the fifth set.

Ngo totaled 61 helpers, topping her previous high of 55 earlier this season. She added 13 digs and four kills. Burgess put up 20 kills, three aces, and three block assists, hitting .475 on the night. Muchnicki accumulated 31 digs in her first career start. Morina logged 19 points and Alicea notched 15 to go with 10 digs and two aces. Haag provided 11.5 points, 15 digs, and a pair of aces. As a group, the Bearcats hit .249 for the contest. Â

The match marked the eighth five-setter of 2015 for Binghamton. BU is 4-4 in five-game decisions this year.

The Bearcats host Siena on Thursday, October 22, in their final non-conference match of 2015. The contest is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
