VESTAL, N.Y. - After an arduous schedule that sent the team on the road for an entire month, Binghamton women's soccer returns home on Sunday when BU (1-9-1, 0-2 AE) hosts Hartford (7-2-2, 1-0-1 AE) in an America East game at 1 p.m. at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
Binghamton endured seven straight road games during the month of September, the last of which was a tight 2-1 loss at Albany on Thursday night. The Bearcats played four one-goal games during the stretch but came up empty in the win column. On Thursday, BU outshot the Great Danes 17-8 but the hosts converted a pair of loose balls following free kicks and grabbed the three points.
Junior midfielder
Alyssa Falinski scored BU's lone goal - directly off a corner kick. Falinski struck a left-footed corner in the 69th minute and the curling delivery beat the keeper high to even the score. But Albany tallied the game-winner just under five minutes later.
Sophomore keeper
Katie Hatziyianis needed to make just three saves at Albany. She has a 2.28 goals against average.Â
After the long string of road games, Binghamton will play four of its last six games at home.Â
Hartford has opened up conference play with four points in two games. The Hawks tied Maine in their opener last Sunday and then edged Stony Brook 1-0 on Thursday. The team's only blemishes this season are 1-0 losses to Manhattan and FDU. After scoring 17 goals in their first six combined games, Hartford's offense has slowed to the tune of four goals in their last five (2-1-2 in that span). Junior forward Aalah Ingram leads the team with six goals and 16 points. Junior keeper Jessica Jurg owns a paltry 0.44 goals against average with six shutouts, anchoring a stingy Hawks' backline that has allowed just five goals in more than 1,000 minutes of action this fall.Â

Hartford leads the all-time series with Binghamton 8-4-1. The Hawks have rattled off five-straight shutout victories since 2010, including last season's 1-0 win in West Hartford. That result was particularly tough to swallow for the Bearcats. The winning goal banked off a BU defender with two seconds left in regulation as it appeared the game was headed to overtime.Â
