VESTAL, N.Y. – Kori Bayne-Walker scored a game-high 23 points, leading Stony Brook (17-11, 10-5 AE) to a 68-59 win over Binghamton (4-24, 2-13 AE) in an America East women's basketball game on Thursday night at the Events Center. The game was preceded by a ceremony honoring graduating seniors Sherae Swinson and Gintare Surdokaite.

Bayne Walker, who went a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line, scored 15 of her points in the second half. Also reaching double figures for the Seawolves was Sabre Proctor who had 16 points and eight rebounds.

Swinson was one of two Bearcat players to reach double figures in scoring. She netted 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds, narrowly missing her third consecutive double-double. In the process, she moved into 15th place all time in program history with 964 points. Against the Seawolves, she surpassed Alicia Koppenhoefer (1990-94), who had 954 points.

Freshman point guard Jasmine Sina, meanwhile, scored a team-high 17 points and dished out seven assists. In the process, she boosted her scoring average to a team-best 15.0 points per game, which is the highest single-season average in program history since the 2001-02 season. Sarah Cartmill averaged 18.4 points per game that year while current Bearcat assistant coach Leah Truncale averaged 15.3 points.

Binghamton raced out to a 9-2 lead in the opening 4:35 against Stony Brook. The Seawolves, however, answered with a 10-0 run to take a 12-9 lead with 11:18 left in the first half.

The lead went back and four before a three-point field goal by Christy Scognamiglio put the Seawolves up 30-25 with 1:27 left before the break. Sina, however, drilled a three-point field goal to trim the deficit to 30-28 at halftime.

Stony Brook took command of the game in the second half, going up 49-33 in the opening nine minutes of play.

The Bearcats, however, never gave up and were able to get to within single digits when freshman guard Asia Baker hit a pair of free throws with 40 seconds to play. Those would be the final two points of the game for either side, making the score 68-59.

Freshman guard Imani Watkins added nine points, four rebounds, three assists and four steals.

Binghamton heads to UMBC for its regular-season finale on Sunday at 1 p.m.
