WASHINGTON, D.C.- The Binghamton wrestling team fell, 20-15, at American University in an Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) match Sunday afternoon.
Dylan Caruana,
Zack Zupan,
Steve Schneider, and
Tyler Deuel all won for the Bearcats, who dropped to 6-10 overall and 4-4 in the EIWA on the season.
Caruana got BU on the board, winning his 141-pound bout. The sophomore beat Michael Sprague, 6-3, to make it a 7-3 deficit for Binghamton.
In the 165-pound match, Zupan controlled from start to finish. The freshman claimed an 11-2 major decision over Brad Mutchnik for his 18
th win of the season.
Schneider continued the Bearcats' momentum in the 174-pound contest. He posted a 9-1 major decision over Nick Carey, pulling BU within three points on the scoreboard. Schneider collected his 17
th victory of the year.
Deuel handled Chris McDermand in the heavyweight match, eventually taking a 9-0 major decision. Deuel improved to 20-4 with the win.
The Bearcats host the University of Buffalo on Friday, February 13. The non-conference dual match is set for a 7 p.m. start at the West Gym.
