PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- The Binghamton men's lacrosse team fell, 9-5, at Drexel Tuesday afternoon.
Sean Gilroy scored a pair of goals for the Bearcats in the non-conference contest at Vidas Field.
Gilroy got BU on the board with 11:18 left in the first quarter.
Zach Scaduto hit a cutting Gilroy in front of the net, where he finished for a 1-0 lead. Drexel answered with four straight goals, but a Dragon penalty opened the door for Binghamton.
Paul O'Donnell fired a shot past the Drexel goalie at the 9:26 mark, cutting the deficit to 4-2.
Mitchell Rick assisted on the man-up score. A few minutes later, O'Donnell found Scaduto for a goal to pull BU within one. The hosts came back with a goal just over a minute later and the Dragons held a 5-3 halftime advantage.
In the third period, each team scored twice. Gilroy scored with 11:37 to go in the frame and then
Tyler Deluca found the back of the net for Binghamton, but Drexel answered both scores. The Dragons added two goals in the fourth quarter to seal the decision.
Tanner Cosens tied a career high with 13 saves. Gilroy scored twice, while Scaduto and O'Donnell each added a goal and an assist. Ryan Belka led a balanced Drexel attack with a goal and three assists.
Binghamton hosts Hartford in the America East home opener on Saturday, March 28. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. faceoff at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
