FAIRFIELD, Conn.  The Binghamton (3-1) women's lacrosse team used a 5-0 run to take control of the game, and come away with a 9-5 win at Sacred Heart (2-3).

"I'm really pleased with the team's performance," remarked Head Coach Stephanie Allen. "At the start of the second half we were able to create opportunities for the offense and that was very big for us."

Scoring came at a premium for both teams in the first half, with Renee Kiviat, Sophia Racciatti, and Tiffany Ryan doing the honors for Binghamton. In the second, Binghamton opened with a 5-0 run to extend the lead to 8-1. Valerie DeNapoli scored at 26:13, and just over a minute later Brianne Arthur scored her first goal. Arthur would then add another, followed by Brianna Russo, before completing the hat trick with 19:57 to play.

"It was good for her (Arthur) to get a solid performance off," Allen. "We've had to count on a number of different players this year, and everyone has been stepping up nicely. That's led to a well balanced offense for us."

Erin McNulty continued to shine in net, as she made eight saves on 13 shots. The junior has allowed just 20 goals in the last three games, all Binghamton wins.

"Erin stepped up big in the cage for us today," admitted Allen. "Her stopping 8-of-13 put us in a good position to win."

The Bearcats' next game is at Cornell on Wednesday, March 11 at 5 p.m.
