Softball Hosts UMass Lowell in AE doubleheader

STORY LINES

- Binghamton opens up its third season at the Bearcats Sports Complex Softball Facility. The Bearcats have gone 19-9 on their current home field since March 30, 2013.

- The Bearcats (13-12, 3-2 AE) dropped a doubleheader on Saturday at Bucknell, losing 2-1 and 5-1. Freshman outfielder Jessica Rutherford hit a team-best .667 against the Bison while sophomore outfielder Gabby Bracchi finished the game 3-for-6 (.500).

- For the season, junior first baseman Lisa Cadogan leads the team with a .402 batting average, six home runs and 27 RBI. Junior outfielder Sydney Harbaugh is hitting .363 with four home runs and 21 RBI.

- UMass Lowell (10-21, 0-6 AE) was swept by visiting Maine in a three-game conference series this past weekend. The scores were 7-0, 5-4 and 6-3. Alisha Welch leads the River Hawks with a .298 batting average while Vanessa Cooper has a team-best three home runs and 19 RBI.

- Last season, the Bearcats took two out of three games at UMass Lowell. The two teams split an April 14 doubleheader, with the River Hawks winning 6-4 but the Bearcats holding on for a 12-11 win in the nightcap. Binghamton won the rubber match 6-1 two days later.
