VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton women's soccer (1-3-1) will look to reignite its offense when the Bearcats travel to Buffalo to face the Bulls (3-2-1) Friday night. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. at UB Stadium.Â
Binghamton has dropped three straight and has been held to one goal in its last four combined games. The last two defeats have been tight, one-goal results - the most recent being a 1-0 road loss at Siena on Sunday.
Sophomore keeper
Katie Hatziyianis and a steady back line have for the most part held opponents in check. Three of five BU foes have scored one goal or less. Hatziayinis owns a 1.53 goals against average. She made six saves at Siena, blanking the Saints over the final 88:24 after the hosts tallied an early goal.
Senior forward
Stephani Church leads the Bearcats with two goals. Freshman
Julianne Johnston has the team's other tally.
Buffalo is coming off a 1-1 home draw with Niagara on Tuesday. The Bulls have gone 3-1-1 in their last five games after opening the season with back-to-back losses. Buffalo played Niagara four days after the Purple Eagles edged BU 2-1. It was the third common opponent of the 2015 season. Earlier, Buffalo beat Canisius 2-0 (BU drew 0-0) and lost to St. Bonaventure (BU beat Bona 2-1). Against Niagara, the Bulls needed a goal with just eight seconds left in regulation to force overtime and salvage the tie. Niagara held a 20-18 shots edge.Â
The Bulls have six different players who have scored one goal apiece. Sophomore keeper Laura Dougall has a 0.94 goals against average with three shutouts.
Buffalo leads the all-time series 3-1. The teams last played in the 2011 opener, when visiting UB posted a 1-0 double overtime win at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
After Friday's contest, BU will ready for a Sunday afternoon tilt at Temple, continuing the team's grind of seven straight road games.
