VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton women's soccer looks to snap a losing skid when the Bearcats (1-5-1) begin a two-game weekend set at Fairleigh Dickinson (3-4) Friday night. The game against the Knights kicks off at 7 p.m. at University Stadium in Teaneck, N.J.
Binghamton is 8-1 all-time against FDU. The teams last met in 2012 when the Bearcats posted a 1-0 road win.
Binghamton is is the midst of a difficult stretch of seven straight away games. The team is looking for its first win since a season-opening 2-1 victory over St. Bonaventure. The Bearcats have suffered a pair of one-goal defeats along the way and then had a rough two-game set last weekend when they dropped games to talented Buffalo (3-0) and Temple (4-1) squads. Â

FDU is coming off a 3-0 loss to fellow America East member Stony Brook in its last outing on Sunday. The Knights also played Temple to start their season and like BU, suffered a three-goal setback (3-0). FDU is the reigning Northeast Conference regular season champions who went 14-6-1 last season before falling just shy of an NCAA tournament berth. This year the team has 11 seniors and was picked to finish second in the NEC.Â
Junior forward Rachel Hoekstra and senior striker Carly Tice lead the team with three goals and seven points apiece. Senior keeper Felicia Burr owns a 2.51 goals against average. FDU is the highest-scoring team in the NEC this season, having netted two or more goals in five of their last six games.Â
After Friday, BU returns to Central New York to face Cornell at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
