VESTAL, N.Y.- The Binghamton volleyball team hosts Albany in the 2015 home opener on Friday, September 25. The America East premiere is set for a 7 p.m. start at the West Gym.

Binghamton is 3-11 this season. It has won three five-game matches in 2015. Junior
Bailey Walker leads the America East and ranks 11
th nationally in total digs (271). She has been named America East Defensive Specialist of the Week twice this year. Sophomore
Kristella Morina paces the conference in total blocks with 50. Freshman
Gabby Alicea has scored a team-high 130 points, including 109 kills, this season. Sophomore setter
Sarah Ngo has registered 444 assists, good for second-most in the America East.

Albany has a 5-7 mark in 2015. It began the year with a 5-4 record before dropping all three of its outings at the Marquette Invitational last weekend. Laini Leindecker, a junior, tops the Great Danes with 169 points. Junior Mikala McCauley has dished out 402 assists, while freshman Nicole Otero has provided 227 digs for Albany.

Binghamton has qualified for the America East Tournament in five of the last seven years. Coach
Glenn Kiriyama is in his 17
th season at BU, having won three America East Tournament titles (2005, 2009, 2012). Kiriyama has won 244 matches in his tenure at Binghamton, the second-most among active conference coaches.

Under Coach M.J. Engstrom, Albany has advanced to the conference tournament in each of the last seven years. Last season, the Great Danes finished second in the America East and advanced to the tournament finals.

In 2014, the Bearcats took two of three meetings between the programs. The last time the teams met at the West Gym,
Megan Burgess led with 20 points and Walker totaled 28 digs in a 3-1 BU victory on October 24, 2014.
