Men’s Soccer Defeated By Princeton 3-1

Tigers net three second-half goals to secure victory

VESTAL, N.Y. – Thomas Sanner scored a pair of goals and Brendan McSherry finished with a goal and an assist, powering Princeton (3-2-0) to a 3-1 win over Binghamton (5-4-0) in a non-conference men's soccer game on Saturday night at the Bearcats Sports Complex. The loss was the first home setback in four matches for the Bearcats this season.

Sanner broke open a scoreless tie by scoring a pair of goals in a span of 2:35 during the second half. He tipped in the first goal in the 62nd minute off a free kick from McSherry. His second goal came off a cross from Greg Seifert in the 65th minute.

McSherry completed the Tigers' scoring when he finished off a cross from Jeremy Colvin in the 77th minute.

The Bearcats broke the shutout when senior midfielder Bret Celeste scored on a free kick in the 81st minute.

The shots were even at 13-13 for the game. The Bearcats had a 7-5 advantage in the opening 45 minutes.

"I thought we came out and played quite well in the first half," head coach Paul Marco said. "But Princeton is a very good team and they were better than us in key moments in the second half. Give them credit."

Binghamton closes out its non-conference schedule on Wednesday night at St. Bonaventure at 7 p.m.
