Women's soccer drops AE opener

Bearcats surrender three goals in each half, fall at New Hampshire 6-0

DURHAM, N.H. - Defending America East champion New Hampshire (3-5-3, 1-0 AE) tallied three goals in each half and blanked Binghamton women's soccer (1-8-1, 0-1 AE) 6-0 in the conference opener for both teams Sunday afternoon from Bremner Field.

The Wildcats opened the scoring in the sixth minute and added another less than six minutes later on a penalty kick. A goal in the 32nd minute gave the hosts a 3-0 halftime cushion.

In the second half, UNH made it 4-0 with a goal in the 51st minute and then the Wildcats finished the scoring with two goals in a 1:17 span midway through the half.

New Hampshire held a 22-10 cushion in shots.

Sophomore keeper Katie Hatziyianis made six saves before giving way to classmate Haley Downin, who recorded two saves in her 16 minutes.

Binghamton next plays at Albany on Thursday night.
