VESTAL, N.Y.- The Binghamton volleyball team continues its 2015 season at the Cleveland State Invitational September 4-6 . On Friday, the Bearcats take on Cincinnati at 4:30 p.m. The next day, BU faces the host Cleveland State at 12:30 p.m. and concludes action against Central Michigan at 4:30 p.m. All matches will be held at the Woodling Gymnasium in Cleveland.

Binghamton won one contest and dropped three last weekend at the Florida Atlantic Invitational. The Bearcats beat Stetson in five games (24-26, 25-20, 19-25, 25-23, 15-7) Saturday afternoon.
Sarah Ngo and
Bailey Walker were both named to the all-tournament team. Ngo led with 36 assists and 22 digs.
Gabby Alicea paced BU with 15 points, putting up 11 kills, two blocks, nine digs and a pair of aces.
Erin Shultz scored 14.5 points, with
Kristella Morina tailing 12.5 and
Megan Burgess adding 11 points. Walker posted 24 digs in the contest.

Last weekend, Cincinnati opened their season at the Queen City Classic, going 2-1. UC lost to Eastern Michigan 3-0 in their first match Friday and then came back defeat Northern Kentucky 3-0 and Xavier 3-1 on Saturday. Freshman Jordan Thompson led all scorers with 15 kills in their final match against Xavier, as she committed just two attacking errors for a match-high .520 hitting percentage.

Cleveland State kicked off their season at the Blue Raider Bash at Middle Tennessee State University August 28-29, recording three wins and one loss. The Vikings defeated Bowling Green 3-2, Notre Dame 3-,2 and Indiana 3-2 in their first three matches and then dropped their last match to hosts Middle Tennessee, 3-0. Sophomore Alexis Middlebrooks was named the Tournament MVP after posting a team-best 23 blocks and 43 kills on the weekend. Cleveland State also played at Akron on September first winning 3-1.

Central Michigan competed at the Indiana-Purdue-Ft. Wayne Invitational last weekend to start their season. The Chippewas went 1-2 in the tournament losing their first two matches to hosts Indiana-Purdue-Ft. Wayne 3-1 and Eastern Illinois 3-2. They closed out the weekend with a five game win over UIC. Jordan Bueter was named to the all-tournament team, she recorded 54 kills on a .265 hitting percentage.

This weekend marks the Bearcats first-ever meeting with Cincinnati and Central Michigan. BU has played Cleveland State just once, in 2005.Â
