CLEVELAND, Ohio- The Binghamton volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Cincinnati Friday afternoon at the Cleveland State Invitational. UC won by scores of 25-14, 25-22, and 25-16.

After falling in the first game, BU looked much stronger in the second frame.
Gabby Alicea and
Alexis LaGoy teamed up for a block and then a Cincinnati error gave Binghamton a 2-1 edge. After three more UC faults,
Sarah Ngo found
Erin Shultz for a kill and a 6-3 advantage. Ngo then assisted on points by Alicea, LaGoy, and
Megan Burgess, making it 10-7. Burgess posted two more points as the set continued.
Kristella Morina and LaGoy each scored and then a Cincinnati attack error made it 18-17 in UC's favor. After a Cincinnati point, it committed a service error and Ngo followed with an assist to Burgess to even the score at 19. LaGoy's kill on the ensuing point gave Binghamton a one-point lead, causing a UC timeout. BU's momentum went on, though, as Ngo hit Alicea for consecutive points for a 22-19 margin. Cincinnati responded with six straight points to end the game, however.

BU held Cincinnati to a match-low .122 hitting percentage in the third set, but UC was too much and came away with the victory in the battle of the Bearcats.

Ngo finished with 19 assists and Walker compiled 13 digs. Burgess paced the offense with 7.5 points and Alicea added six.

The Bearcats play twice on Saturday, facing host Cleveland State at 12:30 p.m. and then taking on Central Michigan at 4:30 p.m. The match with CSU is available on ESPN3 at the link at the top of the story. Both contests will be held in Woodling Gymnasium.
