ALBANY, N.Y. - Host Albany (15-5, 4-1 America East) put five players in double figures and shot 59 percent to pin an 80-59 loss on Binghamton men's basketball (3-14, 0-4 AE) Monday night at SEFCU Arena.

The Bearcats were within six, 47-41, with 16:32 remaining before the two-time reigning conference champion Great Danes pulled away with an 11-2 run that spanned 3:41. Binghamton could draw no closer than 10 the rest of the way.

Albany, which led from start to finish, shot above 60 percent until the waning minutes and also made its first 20 free throws before missing two in the closing minutes.

"We competed hard tonight but they eventually wore us down," head coach Tommy Dempsey said. "We found a little bit of offensive rhythm but they were making big shots. Albany had good offensive chemistry tonight and got what they wanted. But I thought we were competitive. The score got away from us at the end ... I don't think it was indicative of the way we competed."

Junior guard Marlon Beck and sophomore forward Willie Rodriguez paced the offense with 12 points apiece. Freshman guard Everson Davis added 11 points. Sophomore center Bobby Ahearn chipped in nine points and classmate Dusan Perovic handed out a team-high five assists.

Albany hit 11 of its first 13 shots and forged a 41-30 halftime lead.

The Bearcats return home to host Vermont on Thursday at the Events Center.
