NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Binghamton women's basketball team (0-2) was defeated 57-48 at Yale on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference game.
Redshirt sophomore guard
Jasmine Sina finished with a game-high 16 points. She connected on five three-point field goal shots, all of which came in the second half.
Junior guard
Imani Watkins scored 11 points, reaching double figures for the second game in a row. In addition, she posted a team-high five assists, five rebounds and three steals
Both teams struggled shooting the first three periods, as Yale clung to a 31-30 advantage. In the first four minutes of the final period, however, the Bulldogs reeled off nine unanswered points.
The Bearcats got to within 43-37 on a layup by freshman forward
Karlee Krchnavi with 2:35 left in regulation. Yale, however, made eight of its 10 free throws the rest of the way to ice the game.
Lena Munzer and Tamara Simpson each scored 12 points for Yale.
Krchnavi had five points to go along with seven rebounds and a pair of steals. Off the bench, sophomore forward
Rebecca Carmody had five points, five rebounds and three steals.
Binghamton took care of the basketball, committing only nine turnovers for the second game in a row.
The Bearcats head to Penn on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. game.
NOTE: Yale is the first of five Ivy League opponents that the Bearcats face this season. The Ivy League as a conference had a RPI of ninth last year.
