Men’s Soccer Loses 5-1 at Albany, Is No. 6 Seed in AE Tournament

Bearcats travel to No. 3 Vermont for quarterfinal match on Saturday

ALBANY, N. Y. – The Binghamton men's soccer team dropped a 5-1 decision at Albany on Wednesday night in an America East soccer game at the Great Dane Field. With the loss, the Bearcats drop to a No. 6 seed in the upcoming conference tournament and will travel to Vermont on Saturday for a quarterfinal game at 1 p.m.

The Great Danes came into the match ranked third in the NSCAA East Region Poll and with a RPI of No. 15. With the victory, the Great Danes clinch the No. 2 seed and will host the winner of the Binghamton-Vermont matchup in the semifinal round next Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Against Albany on Wednesday night, junior midfielder Ben Ovetsky scored the lone Bearcat goal on a penalty kick in the 88th minute. By that time, however, the Great Danes already had scored all of their goals.

Binghamton lost 2-0 to Vermont at the Bearcats Sports Complex back on Oct. 22.
