Women’s Lacrosse Defeats Quinnipiac 13-7

Kennedy with three goals and two assists in win

VESTAL, N.Y.—The Binghamton women's lacrosse team (2-2) defeated Quinnipiac (0-3) 13-7 today at the Bearcat's Sports Complex.

"I thought it was a good team win today," stated head coach Stephanie Allen. "I was really pleased to see some players step up and come off of the bench and make an impact out there. It's just about expecting more out of ourselves each and every day, and working to get better as we inch closer to conference play."

After falling behind 2-1 to start the game, Binghamton went on a five-goal run that stretched into the second half.

First Sophia Racciatti scored her first goal of the game when she fired the ball in on a free position attempt. Four minutes later Jacqueline Kennedy picked off a Bobcat pass, dished to Racciatti, who beat the goalie one-on-one for her second goal of the game. After a goal by Olivia Batista, it was Racciatti with the assist, as she fed a pass to Rebecca Golderman that the freshman sent home.

Kennedy scored her second goal of the game to open the second half to stretch the lead to 6-2. After a Bobcat goal, freshmen Golderman and Ciara Gordon each scored to make it 8-3. When the score crept to 8-5, Binghamton used a four-goal streak to put the game away. First it was Valerie DeNapoli scoring on a pass from Kennedy. Then Callon Williams added a pair of free position goals. The fourth straight goal was tallied by Skye Schumacher—the first collegiately for the sophomore. The Bearcats' final goal of the day came with a minute left, when Kennedy scored her third of the game.

Kennedy led the way in point with three goals and two assists, while Racciatti had two of each.

Defensively Allie Rodgers had four caused turnovers and five ground balls. Amanda Marsh had a pair of caused turnovers, and Erin McNulty made eight saves in net.

Binghamton returns to action on Tuesday, March first at Canisius.
