NEWARK, Del. - Host Delaware rallied with two runs in the seventh and two more tiebreaking runs in the eighth and the Blue Hens (11-4) took the series finale 5-4 over Binghamton (2-12) Sunday afternoon at Bob Hannah Stadium.
The loss overshadowed a strong pitching performance from sophomore
Jacob Wloczewski, who went 5.0 innings in his season debut. Wloczewski scattered six hits and one run and left the game with a 3-1 lead.Â
Delaware plated two runs on four hits in the seventh inning and then snapped a 3-3 tie with two more runs on three hits in the eighth. Binghamton got one run back in the top of the ninth inning on a sacrifice fly by sophomore shortstop
Paul Rufo and had the tying run on first base when a fly out ended the game.Â
Senior third baseman
David Schanz raised his season average to .351 with a 2-for-4, RBI effort. Schanz delivered an RBI double in the third inning, when BU shook off a 1-0 deficit with three runs. After his run-scoring double, senior second baseman
Reed Gamache hit a sacrifice fly and then Schanz scored on a wild pitch to extend BU's lead to 3-1.Â

Eddie Posavec went 2-for-4.Â
Binghamton plays a pair of doubleheaders next weekend at Penn, beginning with a noon start on Saturday.Â
