Softball Opens AE Play at UMass Lowell

Bearcats and River Hawks play Saturday DH at 1 p.m., single game at noon on Sunday

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (9-9, 0-0 AE) split four games at the Maryland Invitational last weekend. In the final game, the Bearcats defeated the host Terps for their first-ever win over a Big Ten Conference opponent. Senior catcher Lisa Cadogan led Binghamton with a .500 batting average over the weekend.

- UMass Lowell (4-19, 0-0 AE) dropped all five of its games at the Under Armor Tournament (hosted by South Florida) last weekend. The River Hawks were scheduled to host Holy Cross on Tuesday but weather forced that doubleheader to be cancelled.

- Sophomore outfielder Jessica Rutherford ranks second in the America East with a .459 batting average while junior outfielder Gabby Bracchi is hitting .382 and ranks ninth.

- The River Hawks lead the America East with a team ERA of 3.77. Individually, Sydney Wash ranks second in the conference with a 2.86 ERA.

- Binghamton is 3-2 against UMass Lowell since the River Hawks joined the America East prior to the 2013-14 season. Last year, the two squads split an April 14 double header. The River Hawks won the opener 8-6 but Binghamton came back to win the nightcap 8-1. Senior catcher Lisa Cadogan had a pair of home runs and six RBI during the two games.
