ORONO, Maine – Erin Bogdanovich scattered one run on two hits and struck out four batters, leading Maine (17-16, 6-2 AE) to a 2-1 win over Binghamton (21-12, 7-2 AE) in an America East softball game on Sunday afternoon at Kessock Field. With the victory, the Black Bears win the conference series two games to one.
One day after firing a three-hit shutout against Binghamton, Bogdanovich picked right up where she left off. She allowed just a pair of singles, issued only one walk and held the America East's highest-ranking offense scoreless over the final five innings of the game.
The Bearcats got their run in the top of the second inning to go up 1-0. Junior pinch runner
Bridget Hunt scored on a groundout by junior shortstop
Crysti Eichner.
Sophomore pitcher
Sarah Miller was able to protect Binghamton's lead until Maine plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Rachel Harvey singled home the tying run and one batter later, scored the eventual winning run.
Bogdanovich improves to 5-4 with the victory while Miller drops to 12-6 with the defeat.
Binghamton returns home to face Cornell in a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
