LOWELL, Mass.—The Binghamton women's lacrosse team (5-11, 1-4 America East) took care of business today, defeating UMass Lowell (1-15, 0-6 America East) 12-4 today.
The game stayed close in the first half, with
Stefanie Frolo, Valeri DeNapoli (2), and
Olivia Batista scoring to give the Bearcats a 4-2 lead at the break. BU used a 5-0 run to pull away in the second half. First it was
Callon Williams scoring her first of the game. Then Williams connected with DeNapoli for Valerie's third of the game. A minute later Williams scored again, this time via free position goal. Ten minutes later it was
Sophia Racciatti scoring her first of the game. The fifth goal of the run was Williams' third of the game, with DeNapoli returning the favor and picking up an assist. After a Riverhawks goal, BU rattled off three more to make it 12-3. DeNapoli tallied her fourth of the game, and 18 seconds later Williams did likewise.
Jacqueline Kennedy closed the scoring with her first of the game, off a pass from
Jocelyn Penteck.
Williams led BU with seven points, a new career high for the junior. DeNapoli also set a career high with four goals and five points. For Frolo it's the first goal for the sophomore's collegiate career. Racciatti added an assist to go along with her goal, giving her two points for the game and 100 for her career. The senior becomes just the eighth Bearcat to reach 100 points in program history.
With the win the Bearcats have set themselves up for a key regular season finale, when they travel to Vermont on Saturday, April 30.
