Men's Lacrosse Visits Vermont for Regular Season Finale Saturday

VESTAL, N.Y.- Binghamton men's lacrosse travels to Vermont for its final regular season match on Saturday, April 30. The key America East game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. faceoff at Virtue Field.

Binghamton is 2-3 in conference play, while Vermont has a 3-2 mark. BU can clinch an America East Championship berth with a five-goal victory OR a win AND a Hartford win over Stony Brook. The Catamounts qualify with a win.

The Bearcats fell, 16-10, to #14 Stony Brook on April 24. Ben Kocis recorded two goals and two assists. Zach Scaduto and Matthew Kaser each tallied two goals and an assist, while Tanner Cosens produced 10 saves in net.

Vermont is coming off a 13-4 win at Hartford on April 23. The Catamounts led, 7-0, at halftime on their way to an easy victory. Cam Milligan and Ian MacKay scored three goals each to lead UVM. Jon Kaplan tallied 14 saves in goal.

Scaduto paces the Bearcats with 25 goals and 12 assists-both career high marks for the senior. Kocis has contributed 16 goals and 12 helpers, while Johnny Maher has registered 13 goals and 14 assists. Dan Mazurek (50.8) and Austin Macchi (52.1) are both over 50 percent on faceoffs this year. As a team, BU ranks 12th nationally in clearing percentage (88.9), which is also good for second in the America East.

For Vermont, MacKay leads the way with 37 goals and 22 assists. The junior's 10 man-up goals lead the nation. Milligan has put up 24 goals and 24 helpers on the season. Luc LeBlanc has taken the majority of the faceoffs, winning 55.9 percent of his attempts. The Catamounts rank third in the league with an 88.6 clearing percentage.

Coach Scott Nelson's squad is looking for its first America East Championship appearance since 2014. BU needed a two-goal win over to Vermont to clinch a postseason spot last year, but the Catamounts won, 14-13. That match featured 13 combined goals in the fourth quarter. Cosens made a career-high 16 saves for the Bearcats.

Binghamton leads the all-time series, 8-6, as the road team has won each of the last three outings between the programs.
