ALBANY, N.Y.—The Binghamton women's lacrosse team (4-8, 0-2 AE) lost to Albany (6-3, 2-0 AE) today 14-4 at John Fallon Field.
The Great Danes jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead, but Binghamton battled back to close out the half.
Rebecca Golderman put the team on the board when she scooped up a bouncing
Valerie DeNapoli pass at the top of the fan, and cut through a swarm of defenders to fire home the team's first goal. Ten minutes later it was Golderman again—this time catching a long pass from
Erin McNulty at midfield and scampering by the defenders to score her second of the game. The freshman made it a hat trick with just 45 seconds left in the half when she caught and fired a one-timer from
Sophia Racciatti to make it 5-3.
Albany responded by scoring the first nine goals of the second half.
Sophia Racciatti snapped the streak and closed the scoring when she added a goal off a pass by
Callon Williams.
It's the third career hat trick for Golderman. The freshman also tied a Binghamton single-game record with nine draw controls.
Erin McNulty made eight saves in net, while
Sharon Bossert and
Valerie DeNapoli each led BU with two ground balls.
Allie Rodgers recorded her 65th career caused turnover, setting the Binghamton all-time mark.
Next up Binghamton welcomes Colgate on Tuesday, April 12 for a 4 p.m. non-conference matchup.
