VESTAL, N.Y.- Binghamton volleyball makes a trip to Providence for the Brown Invitational this weekend. The Bearcats are scheduled to face Brown on Friday, September 16, at 7:30 p.m. and then take on New Mexico State (10 a.m.) and Central Connecticut State (4:30 p.m.) on Saturday, September 17. All matches will be held at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
BU (4-6) just came off of a win on the road against Siena on Wednesday. The Bearcats were led by sophomore
Gaby Alicea with 12 kills, junior
Sarah Ngo with 38 assists, and senior
Bailey Walker with 20 digs. BU has won three of its last four matches entering this weekend.
Kornmann paces the Bearcats thus far with 92.5 points through ten matches this season. Ngo has dished out 285 assists on the season, while Walker leads the team with 148 digs.
Kristella Morina and
Bianca Anderson have both produced 24 total blocks this year.
Brown is 1-6 on their season and is coming off of a weekend at the San Francisco Challenge where they went 0-3. The Bears are being led by Makena Ehlert who has 64 kills, Sarah Lucenti, who has 137 assists, and Melissa Cairo, who has 79 digs on the season.
New Mexico State has a 6-4 mark in 2016, including a 1-2 showing at the Borderland Invitational last weekend. The Aggies swept Albany at the UNLV Invitational to open the season. Sasha-Lee Thomas leads the team with 107 kills, while Kassandra Tohm has 101 kills on .353 hitting in ten contests.
Central Connecticut State sports a 5-4 record this year. It went 1-2 at the Big Green Invitational last weekend. The Blue Devils lost, 3-2, at Hartford on September 3. Raquel Quirarte tops the roster with 112 points and Rachel Fish has totaled 141 digs in nine matches.
Binghamton has never met Brown or New Mexico State. CCSU leads the all-time series, 3-1, over BU.
