VESTAL, N.Y.- Binghamton volleyball swept Hartford at the West Gym Friday night. The Bearcats won by scores of 25-7, 25-22, and 25-20 in the America East match.

BU came out on fire, establishing control from the start of the contest.
Erin Shultz and
Gaby Alicea teamed up for a block and then
Bailey Walker served an ace. After a Hartford error, Shultz and Morina both scored, as Binghamton grabbed an 8-2. The pair scored another point apiece, and after another Hawk miscue, the visitors called their second timeout of the set, trailing, 11-2.

Morina and
Sarah Ngo combined for consecutive blocks to stretch the margin, and then Ngo took charge of the bout. The junior found
Lauren Kornmann for a kill, assisted on a
Bianca Anderson point, and then Ngo scored herself. The setter followed by teaming with Anderson for a block as the Bearcats' lead swelled to 17-5. After two Hartford points, Ngo tallied a kill and set out on a serving run that eventually closed the game. After an Anderson block, Ngo found
Gaby Alicea for a kill. Ngo notched back-to-back aces to make it 22-7. The visitors committed an error and then Ngo set up Kornmann for a kill. On set point, Morina put down a block, giving BU a 25-7 victory. The Bearcats hit .625 as a team in the game.

The second frame was more competitive, but Binghamton proved to be too much in the end. With the score even at 20, Kornmann scored and then Ngo logged another ace. Ahead by two, Ngo assisted on an Alicea kill. Hartford answered with a score, but Ngo hit Alicea and then Anderson for kills, wrapping up the set with a final of 25-22.

In the third game, Kornmann scored twice early to spark a 4-0 run. Three Morina kills expanded the margin, but eventually, the Hawks rallied, pulling to within a point at 18-17. Kornmann scored again, and after a Hartford error, Anderson and Ngo combined for another block and a 21-17 advantage. Kornmann posted a kill and a block with Anderson, but Hartford scored twice to stay close. Ngo found Kornmann for another point and then the Hawks erred on match point, allowing Binghamton to claim the sweep and its first conference win of 2016.

The Bearcats attacked at a season-high .367 clip in the sweep. Ngo totaled 29 assists to go along with five block assists, four digs, and three aces. Morina hit .357 on her way to 11 points, while Kornmann added 10.5 points on .500 hitting. Walker contributed eight digs.

BU (7-8, 1-1 AE) hosts UMass Lowell in another America East match on Sunday. The contest is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start at the West Gym.
