Volleyball Hosts Stony Brook Friday

Bearcats look for conference win over Seawolves

VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton volleyball team (5-13, 2-3 AE) hosts Stony Brook (13-7, 3-1 AE) at 7 p.m. on Friday at the West Gym. The Bearcats are looking to bounce back from a 0-2 weekend.

After beating UMass Lowell and New Hampshire at home two weekends ago, the Bearcats fell to UMBC and Hartford this past weekend to move to 2-3 in the America East conference. On Friday night, Binghamton fell to UMBC 3-1 and on Sunday the Bearcats dropped a match to Hartford 3-2. Stony Brook is the last team Binghamton will face in the first round of conference play.

Gaby Alicea leads the Bearcats with 238 kills for 3.45 kills per set average on the season. Lexi LaGoy holds the highest hitting percentage at .314 while setter Sarah Ngo has posted 669 assists this season.

The Seawolves fell to UNH 3-2 on Friday night and topped UMass Lowell 3-0 on Saturday before beating Iona, 3-1, at home on Tuesday evening. Emily Costello leads Stony Brook with 187 kills while McKyla Brooks has added 159 kills on the season. LeAnne Sakowicz leads the team with 676 assists for a 10.4 assists per set average. She has also recorded 143 digs for the Seawolves.

Binghamton begins the second round of America East play on Friday, October 20 when they host Albany at 7 p.m.
