VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton volleyball team (6-14, 3-4 AE) fell to Albany (5-13, 5-1 AE) at the West Gym on Friday night.

The Great Danes defeated the Bearcats in three sets, 25-27, 20-25 and 20-25.

The Bearcats took a 24-21 advantage in the first set, but then allowed Albany to score the next five straight points and take a 25-24 lead. A kill from Lexi LaGoy tied the score at 25, but a Bearcats attacking error and Great Dane kill gave Albany the 27-25 advantage.

Albany got out to an early 8-4 lead in the second set, and never looked back, eventually winning the set with a kill to take a 2-0 advantage in the match.

Both teams went point-for-point in the third set until the Great Danes took a 10-8 lead and used that motivation to score five consecutive points and increase their lead to 14-9. Later in the set, the Great Danes scored the final three points of the day on a kill and two errors by the Bearcats.

Gaby Alicea led the Bearcats with 16 points on 14 kills. Sarah Ngo recorded 41 assists and Samantha Gioiosa produced 13 digs.

Binghamton travels to UNH next Friday for another America East contest.
