Volleyball Looks for Fourth AE Championship

Binghamton will face Stony Brook in the conference championship

ALBANY, N.Y. - The Binghamton volleyball team (12-14, 8-4 AE) will play Stony Brook (17-12, 6-6 AE) in the America East Championship on Saturday. The match is set for a 5 p.m. start at University Gym on the campus of UAlbany.

Binghamton advances to the championship for the fifth time in program history looking for their fourth America East Championship. The Bearcats won the title in 2005, 2009 and 2012.

No. 2 Binghamton defeated No. 3 New Hampshire in the conference semifinals on Friday afternoon. The Bearcats swept the wildcats in straight sets (25-20, 25-19 and 25-23). America East Player of the Year, Gaby Alicea, led Binghamton with 19 points on 17 kills. The conference setter of the year, Sarah Ngo, posted 36 assists and 15 digs for the Bearcats.

The fourth seeded Seawolves upset the No. 1 seed and host Albany in three sets on Friday evening. Stony Brook swept Albany winning the first set 25-20, the second 25-21 and the final set 25-20. First-Team All-Conference selection, McKyla Brooks led the Seawolves with 17 kills and five blocks.

Binghamton swept Stony Brook in the regular season series in 2017. Binghamton won 3-2 at home and 3-1 at Stony Brook.
