Men's Lacrosse Falls to Marist, 11-8

Tom Moore nets three goals but BU comes up short

VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton men's lacrosse (1-1) fell, 11-8, to Marist (3-1) on a stormy Saturday afternoon at the Bearcats Sports Complex. Tom Moore led the Bearcats with three goals and one assist.

"Unfortunately we were unable to put a complete 60 minutes together today," said coach Kevin McKeown. "We turned the ball over in the second half too many times and defensively we were unable to get stops in the third quarter. We got away from who want to be a little but today and that ended up hurting us."

Binghamton went ahead early scoring two goals before the game was delayed for weather. Tom Moore and Liam Reaume both scored in the first eight minutes to put Binghamton up 2-0. The game was then delayed about an hour for lightening in the area.

When play resumed, Marist got on the board quick cutting the Bearcats lead to 2-1.The Red Foxes scored again with seven seconds left in the period to tie the game at two.

In the second period, Binghamton went ahead 4-2 on goals from Tyler Deluca and Thomas McAndrew. Marist added a goal with 2:55 left in the period before Matt Kaser netted a goal as time ran out to put the Bearcats ahead 5-3 at the half.

The Red Foxes scored twice within the first five minutes of the second half to tie the game at five. Tom Moore quickly answered for the Bearcats scoring his second and third goals of the game within a one-minute span to put Binghamton ahead 7-5. Marist then went on to score the next five consecutive goals and take the lead 10-7 after three periods.

Both teams were scoreless for nearly the first 10 minutes of the fourth period. Stephen Petrelli scored his second goal of the season for the Bearcats with 5:44 remaining. The Red Foxes answered with their 11th goal of the game to ensure the victory.
