Women's Lacrosse falls to Canisius 18-12

Penteck scores team-high four goals

VESTAL, N.Y. – Binghamton women's lacrosse fell 18-12 to Canisius Tuesday afternoon at the Bearcats Sports Complex. In the high-scoring game, Jocelyn Penteck scored a team-high three goals with five points and Valerie DeNapoli picked up five ground balls.

"We had a tough time executing our game plan today and dug ourselves a hole," head coach Stephanie Allen said. "Unfortunately we couldn't get out of it."

The game started off on a see-saw note, as Binghamton and Canisius went back and forth for goals. The Bearcats saw goals from Callon Williams, Penteck and Jacqueline Kennedy in the first fifteen to tie the game up 4-4. From there, the Golden Griffins carried a 7-1 run through the end of the first half, leading 11-5.

Canisius came out and scored the first goal of the second half, but Penteck answered scoring her second of the game. Emily Yoo, DeNapoli, Penteck, Tiffany Ryan and Olivia Batista each scored in the second half of the game for the Bearcats but weren't able to close the deficit. Canisius outscored BU 18-12 for the final score of the game.

"We just need to switch our focus to us in the next few days," Allen said. "We need to be ready to go Saturday with a rejuvenated mindset for Marist."

The Bearcats host Marist next on Saturday, March 4 at the Bearcats Sports Complex. The game is set for a 3 p.m. start time.
