Men's Lacrosse Tops Canisius 11-7

Bearcats extend their win streak to six games

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Binghamton men's lacrosse team (7-1) topped host Canisius (4-5) in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday to extend their win streak to six games. Tom Moore led the Bearcats with a hat trick and four assists.

"We were able to get a win against a good Canisius team today," said first year Head Coach Kevin McKeown. "Tom Moore did a great job of handling double teams and seeing the field.  We had good composure throughout the game and didn't let them go on any runs."

The Bearcats were hot in the first period, scoring four goals. Kaser kicked off the period scoring on a pass from Tom Mooore. Liam Reaume followed up quickly with a goal of his own also on a pass from Moore. Canisius scored with 11:07 remaining before the Bearcats answered with two more goals. Joe Grossi scored on a pass from Moore and Moore scored his first goal of the game at 7:24.

Tyler Deluca scored the lone goal for the Bearcats in the second period. The Golden Griffins added a goal to make the halftime score 5-3.

Both teams were held scoreless for the first ten minutes of the second half. Thomas McAndrew ended the scoring drought netting a man-up goal on a pass from Joe Licata with 4:59 remaining in the third. Canisius scored their lone goal of the period with 4:44 remaining. Moore netted an impressive goal, dodging three Canisius defenders and Deluca closed out the period scoring on a pass from Licata with 2:16 remaining.

Canisius rallied in their fourth period scoring three goals but their efforts came up short as Binghamton netted three goals of their own. Moore, McAndrew and Licata all scored in the final period for the Bearcats.

Binghamton owned the shot advantage 28-23 and won 12 of 21 faceoffs. Tanner Cosens recorded seven saves in the net and Garrett Waldron picked up three ground balls for the Bearcats.
