Crysti Eichner and junior first baseman
Kate Richard each had a pair of RBI, leading Binghamton (3-8) to a 7-2 win over UNLV (12-7) in the final game of the Southern Utah/St. George Red Desert Classic on Sunday morning.
Eichner, who finished the game 2-for-3, smacked a two-run double in the bottom of the third inning, which gave the Bearcats a 5-0 advantage. Richard, meanwhile, drilled a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning, stretching the lead to 7-1.
Junior second baseman
Stephanie Bielec and junior outfielder
Jessica Rutherford both went 3-for-4 at the plate. Rutherford also tied Richard for the game high with two runs.
Bielec and Rutherford each scored a run in the bottom of the first inning, as the Bearcats took advantage of three UNLV errors to go up 3-0.
Freshman pitcher
Rozlyn Price improved to 2-1 with the victory while Morgan Ettinger fell to 10-2 with the loss.
Rutherford went 7-for-15 (.467) during the Southern Utah Tournament is now batting .375 so far this year. Bielec was 8-for-18 (.444) and hit safely in all five games. She is now hitting .382.
Senior outfielder
Bridget Hunt finished the tournament 6-for-15 (.400) and is now batting a team-best .393 this year.
Eichner drove in a team-best five runs.
Binghamton travels to the Towson Tournament March 11-12.
