Softball Hosts Buffalo In Non-Conference Doubleheader

Bearcats and Bulls Square Off Tuesday at 3 p.m.






STORY LINES

- Binghamton (13-19, 5-2 AE) lost two of three games to UMass Lowell this past weekend. On Saturday, the Bearcats bounced back from a 7-6, nine-inning setback in the doubleheader opener to win the nightcap 4-2. In the rubber match on Sunday, however, the River Hawks won 12-4 in five innings. Junior outfielder Jessica Rutherford hit a team-best .545 (6-of-11) with two home runs and six RBI during the weekend.

- Junior outfielder Jessica Rutherford continues to lead the Bearcats – and ranks second in the America East – with a .404 batting average. She also has three home runs and 27 RBI. Junior third baseman Kate Richard, meanwhile, leads the Bearcats with eight home runs and 34 RBI.

- Buffalo (8-35, 3-12 MAC) was swept in a three-game series this past weekend by Bowling Green. The scores were 1-0, 2-0 and 3-2. Leandra Jew leads the Bulls with a .337 batting average.

- Binghamton leads the all-time series against Buffalo 3-0, having won 9-2 at the Maryland Tournament back on March 19. Junior third baseman Kate Richard belted her second career grand slam in the victory.
