Women's Lacrosse Falls 11-6 to New Hampshire

Ryan with a game-high three goals, Jehle with 16 saves in the net

DURHAM, N.H. - The Binghamton women's lacrosse team (6-10, 2-3 AE) fell 11-6 to UNH (3-12, 3-3 AE) this Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Tiffany Ryan paced the Bearcats with a team and game-high three goals in the contest.

"Today we weren't at our best and we needed to be," head coach Stephanie Allen said. "We knew it was going to be a tough battle and UNH capitalized on our mistakes. I know that our players properly prepared and played with heart, but we needed to do the little things and have better execution than we did. We still have a big game next week to focus on and I know that we will come out ready to make a statement Saturday."

The Wildcats set the tone early, jumping to a 2-0 lead in the first 15 minutes of the first half. At 15:09, Ryan scored her first goal of the game, before assisting redshirt junior Jocelyn Penteck and junior Jacqueline Kennedy to find the back of the net. With three consecutive goals, Binghamton took their first lead of the game, 3-2. UNH scored two more times before time ran out in the first, and despite junior Emma Jehle's nine saves in the net, took a 4-3 lead into the half.

The Wildcats jumped ahead with two more goals in the start of the second half leading BU 6-3. Ryan scored twice more, assisted by sophomore Emily Yoo but UNH answered with three goals of their own. Kennedy scored the final Bearcat goal of the game before the Wildcats added on two more, making the final score 11-6.

Kennedy finished the day with two points on two goals, four ground balls, three caused turnovers and three draw controls. Ryan totaled for five points with three goals and two assists. Sophomore Rebecca Golderman secured four draw controls and two ground balls. Jehle made a game-high 16 saves in the net.

The Bearcats return home this Saturday, April 29 for their regular season finale against Albany. The game is set for a 1 p.m. start time at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
