Men's Lacrosse Travels to Stony Brook Friday

Bearcats and Seawolves face off in final regular season game

VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton men's lacrosse team (9-3, 3-2 AE) will travel to Stony Brook (7-5, 3-2 AE) on Friday evening to face the Seawolves at 7 p.m. at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium to wrap up regular season play. The Bearcats are looking to bounce back from a three-game losing streak.

The Bearcats had a tough stretch of games last week, falling to No. 5 Albany, 10-4, on Wednesday and No. 1 Syracuse, 9-8, on Saturday. Binghamton led the top team in the nation three different times throughout the game. Heading into the final period, the Bearcats and the Orange were tied 7-7. Syracuse took a 9-7 lead with four minutes remaining in the game. Redshirt senior Tom Moore scored his fifth goal of the game to put Binghamton within one with less than three minutes remaining. The Bearcats had an opportunity to score in the final seconds, but the Orange goal keeper came up huge with an amazing save. Moore's fifth goal of the game tied the Binghamton record for goals in a season (39) set by Matt Springer in 2014.

The Seawolves are riding a two-game win streak after defeating America East foes Vermont (10-9) and UMass Lowell (12-11) in close games. Stony Brook currently ranks 16th in the nation averaging 18.5 points per game,15th with 6.92 assists per game and 12th with a .331 shooting percentage. Alex Corpolongo leads the team with 32 goals on the year, extending his scoring streak to 30 games.

Stony Brook leads the all time series, 12-5. Last season the Seawolves topped the Bearcats 16-11 at the Bearcats Sports Complex.

Postseason Potential for the Bearcats
Binghamton and Stony Brook are currently tied for third in the conference heading into their final America East game of the season. The top four teams in the conference will qualify for the America East Tournament which will be hosted by top seeded Albany, May 4-6.
What We Know
  • A win for the Bearcats guarantees them a spot in the tournament as the No. 3 seed
  • If the Bearcats lose and Albany beats Hartford, the Bearcats will still make the tournament as the No. 4 seed
  • To secure the two spot, the Bearcats would need to win and UMBC would need to lose
