Softball Hosts Colgate on Sunday

Bearcats and Raiders to play non-conference DH at 11 a.m.






STORY LINES

Binghamton (9-16) dropped a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday at Syracuse by scores of 6-4 and 13-1. Junior third baseman Kate Richard finished the afternoon 3-for-5 (.600) with a home run and three RBI. Junior second baseman Stephanie Bielec was 2-for-6 (.333) while senior outfielder Bridget Hunt was 1-for-3 (.333). Bielec also scored a pair of runs.

Junior outfielder Jessica Rutherford, the current America East Player of the Week, ranks third in the conference in batting (.417), is tied for third with three triples and is fourth with 31 hits. Junior third baseman Kate Richard is tied for second with six home runs and leads the conference with 30 RBI.

Colgate (7-19) has been off since being swept in a three-game Patriot League series at Bucknell last weekend. The scores were 3-0, 7-0 and 4-1. Holly Garanen leads the Raiders in batting (.375), is tied for the team lead with two home runs and has a team-best 18 RBI.

Binghamton leads the all-time series against Colgate 17-9. Last season, the two teams split a doubleheader at Colgate on April 12. The Bearcats won the opener 8-0 but lost the nightcap 7-6.
