Volleyball Set to Play Three Matches this Weekend

Bearcats kickoff the season at the UNLV Invitational

Las Vegas, NV. - The Binghamton volleyball team begins the 2017 season at the UNLV Invitational this weekend. The Bearcats play host UNLV at 10:00 a.m. and Eastern Washington University at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The following day Binghamton takes on UC Davis at 11:30 to wrap up the tournament.

Coach Glenn Kiriyama heads into his 19th season at the helm for Binghamton. His 2017 squad was picked to finish fourth in the America East preseason poll.

In 2016, the Bearcats finished fourth in the conference, advancing to the America East Championships for the 11th time in 13 years. Sarah Ngo, Kristella Morina and Gaby Alicea all return after being named to America East All-Conference second team.

UNLV went 24-8 overall in 2016 and advanced to the NCAA tournament. The Rebels return starters Elsa Decamps and Ashley Owens who led the team last season.

EWU posted a 13-13 record last season and qualified for the Big Sky Conference post season tournament. The team returns Chloe Weber and Ashley Seiler who were both contributing starters on the 2016 squad.

UC Davis comes off a 14-15 overall record last year. The Aggies will look to returners Emily Allen, Maddie Merlino and Kelechi Ohiri to carry the team in 2017.

The match against UNLV will be the only match available for live stream.
