Volleyball Set to Travel to Asics Invitational

Bearcats will play three matches this weekend

VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton volleyball team (3-7) will travel to Hofstra for the Asics Invitational this weekend. Binghamton will play Hofstra at 6 p.m. on Friday and then Syracuse at 1 p.m. and Bryant at 4 p.m. on Saturday. All three contests will be played at the Mack Physical Education Center.

The Bearcats dropped all three of their matches at the Cornell Invitational last weekend. Binghamton fell to Cornell (1-3), Valparaiso (1-3) and St. John's (0-3).

Gaby Alicea currently leads the Bearcats with 136 kills and 105 digs. Erin Shultz has posted 109 kills while Kristella Morina has added 95. Setter, Sarah Ngo, has assisted on 386 points for 9.9 assists per set average.

Hofstra (6-5) went 2-1 at the Hampton Inn Bama Bash at Alabama this past weekend. The Pride topped Furman University (3-0) and Tennessee State (3-0) and fell to Alabama (0-3). Luisa Sydlik and Sanna Maring were named to the all-tournament team. Hofstra also defeated Seton Hall, 3-0, at home on Tuesday evening.

Syracuse (6-4) is coming off an undefeated weekend at the Dartmouth Tournament. The Orange topped Dartmouth (3-1), Sacred Heart (3-2) and Iona (3-1). Santita Ebangwese was named the tournament's most valuable player, while Mariia Levanoca and Belle Sand were named to the all-tournament team. Ebangwese currently leads the team with 124 points on 91 kills.

Bryant (6-6) has won their last four matches including three at the Hampton Inn-vitational last weekend. The Bulldogs defeated Stony Brook (3-1), Brown (3-2), and Holy Cross (3-0). Julia Flynn leads Bryant with 104 total kills and a 3.06 kills per set average. Setter Kirstyn Sperry has assisted on 250 points and recorded 136 digs this season.
