Volleyball drops match at Stony Brook

Bearcats fall to Seawolves in straight sets

STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The Binghamton volleyball team (4-14, 2-3 AE) was defeated by Stony Brook (11-8, 5-0 AE) in straight sets on Friday night. The Seawolves won all three sets 25-20, 25-22 and 25-15.

Gaby Alicea posted a double-double for the Bearcats with 10 kills and 10 digs. Samantha Gioiosa tallied 14 digs while Erin Shultz added seven kills and 10 digs.

Both teams rallied to a 9-9 tie early in the first set. Stony Brook then pulled away to gain a 23-20 lead. The Seawolves scored the final two points on back-to-back kills.

Stony Brook jumped out to an early lead in the second set. The Bearcats battled back to come within one point at 22-21 but the Seawolves capitalized on a Binghamton error and won the set on back-to-back kills from McKyla Brooks.

The Seawolves dominated the third set and defeated the Bearcats 25-15 to claim the match 3-0.

Binghamton is back in action this Sunday when they travel to Hartford for a 1:00 matchup with the Hawks.
