Men’s Soccer Edged 1-0 at UMBC

Retrievers Net Game-Winner Goal in 22nd Minute

BALTIMORE, Md. – Matt Bailey scored in the 22nd minute, leading UMBC (7-4-2, 3-2-0 AE) to a 1-0 win over Binghamton (3-10-2, 2-3-0 AE) in an America East men's men's soccer match on Saturday night at Retriever Field.

Bailey's goal, which was his first of the season, was assisted by both Tre Pulliam and James Gielen.

Binghamton finished the match with a 15-10 shot advantage, including an 8-1 margin in shots on goal. In the end, however, the Bearcats were unable to find the back of the net.

"I'm disappointed by the outcome," head coach Paul Marco said. "We played well enough to win the match and it's frustrating to have not come away with a goal."

In the final eight minutes of regulation, Binghamton outshot UMBC 4-0.

Quantrell Jones finished with eight saves to preserve the shutout for the Retrievers.

Binghamton returns home to face Vermont next Saturday night in the team's annual Senior Day Game.
